Saturday Town Our People
STOCKROOM Stockport
October 2025 - January 2026
Saturday Town came to Stockport, with work from the DELVE project, and Shirley Baker, exploring belonging and identity. Over the summer, I worked with local young people from The Proud Trust’s Constellations group. Delving into Stockport’s local history archives, they explored what it means to be seen and represented in their own ways, through photography, collage, and connection. Together the group considered their connections with Stockport and their own heritage, capturing and adding to the local heritage library as part of Historic England’s History in the Making. Linking these connections over time, from the young people of Stockport today to those of the past, faces from the archives to Shirley Baker’s Stockport punks; Saturday Town: Our People explores what it means to belong. DELVE is being funded by Historic England’s History in the Making. Saturday Town: Our People was made possible with the generous support of Nan Levy for the Estate of Shirley Baker and DS Colour Labs.

SATURDAY TOWN CUMBRIA
EVERYDAY IS SATURDAY
Saturday Town comes to Cumbria with Signal Film and Media in Barrow-in-Furness.
Saturday Town is about the powerful, playful language of fashion and how our changing culture can be read through the ways young folks communicate visually.
Saturday Town celebrates youth culture, fashion and self-expression. Photographer Casey Orr has travelled the UK with a pop-up portrait studio, photographing in towns and cities on Saturday afternoons since 2013. Since then she has photographed hundreds of young people, documenting over a decade of major changes in culture, identities and the ways we use our public spaces.
Casey has been in Cumbria with her pop-up portrait studio throughout 2023-24 meeting and photographing young people throughout the region.

In 2023 Casey will be photographing in Leeds, Kirklees, Burnley, Redcar and Barrow in Furness with multiple pop up portrait studios. This will culminate in exhibitions and publications along with opportunities for young creatives. First up - Leeds where it all started.
